WHY USE ONE?

The purpose of the travel crate is to accommodate your pet inside the aircraft while providing safety, comfort, and well-being.
To promote your animal’s safety, comfort, and well-being, the travel crate must comply with IATA LAR (Live Animals Regulations from the International Air Transport Association) requirements together with each airline’s internal rules.
In summary, for international air travel, travel crates must meet the following requirements:
  • Must be made of sturdy material
  • At least 20% of the side and rear structure must be ventilated. The roof cannot be ventilated (open)
  • The travel-crate door must have an externally operated latch (safety lock)
  • Must allow the animal to turn around 360° comfortably (without getting stuck)
  • Must allow the animal to lie down in a natural position and stand up comfortably
  • There must be at least 7 cm of space between the standing animal and the roof of the crate
  • Travel crates with wheels are not accepted
  • Travel crates secured with clips are not accepted
  • The crate must be secured (assembled) with screws
  • It must have at least three screws on each side
  • Absorbent material and a water bowl are provided by Petwork Travel as a courtesy

HOW DO I KNOW THE IDEAL TRAVEL-CRATE SIZE FOR MY PET?

Based on the animal’s measurements, we can determine the ideal travel-crate size, always prioritizing safety, comfort, and well-being.

Formula

A + ½ of B to determine the ideal crate length;

C x 2 to determine the ideal crate width;

D + 7 to determine the ideal crate height.

Example

Your animal’s measurements: A=45 B=20 C=15 D=35 A (45) + ½ B (10) = 55 (minimum length)

C (15) x 2= 30 (minimum width)

D (35) + 7= 42 (minimum height)

Minimum measurements for my travel crate:

55x30x42 cm (length x width x height, respectively).

ATTENTION!

The formula above must be strictly followed. If the travel crate is rejected by the airline, the process will be canceled and a new one must be started with a replacement crate. In this case, the procedure will need to be rescheduled according to the airline’s availability.
